The Buffalo Bill Center of the West (Center), one of the premier institutions worldwide devoted to the history, cultures, and environment of the American West, is seeking a creative and dynamic Exhibit Production Manager to support the work of its museums – Draper Natural History Museum, Buffalo Bill Museum, Plains Indian Museum, Whitney Western Art Museum, and Cody Firearms Museum – and research library. Working closely with curatorial staff, the Exhibit Production Manager is responsible for the planning, production, and maintenance of museum exhibits and assists with the care, storage, and stewardship of museum collections. As a member of the Museum Services team, the Exhibit Production Manager provides critical creative and technical direction for temporary and permanent exhibits.
This is an exciting opportunity to live in the Rocky Mountain West, just east of Yellowstone National Park and work at a Smithsonian-affiliated institution. Each day will present new challenges and opportunities as you collaborate with talented colleagues to produce original exhibitions and enhance permanent exhibits.
Competitive candidates will possess exceptional organizational and communication skills, a desire to work collaboratively, and an ability to juggle widely varied responsibilities. Additionally, they will have experience working within museums, a successful track record of managing teams and projects, and hold an advanced degree(s) in museum studies, exhibition design, industrial arts, or a related field.
